This blog is dedicated to informing people on the effects of Herbicides on our Eco-systems. Every decade mankind seems to unknowingly destroy it's environment. When creating a simple herbicide for weeds such as velvet-leaf. We failed to think of how this effects the Eco-system. Atrazine is a chemical commonly used on farms to protect corn, and sugar cane crops from weeds. But Atrazine also causes a negative impact on amphibians sexual development. While following this blog I hope you will learn to connect the causes and effects that occur in our Eco-Systems.

Are the african clawed frogs the only amphibians tested for atrazine? Just wondering if this pesticide affects all amphibians in the same way(making them reproductively challenged).
ReplyDeleteThe African clawed frogs are not the only amphibians tested for Atrazine. But that particular type of frog is commonly used in labs for testing. So far I have read about the Northern leopard frog suffering from infections caused by trematodes or(parasitic flatworms)infected by Atrazine. Atrazine has also affected tadpoles causing them to become hermaphrodites, and in most cases it maimed frogs reproductively.
